Abfraction
Abfraction is the loss of tooth structure from flexural forces. This has not been supported yet by dental research but it is hypothesized that enamel, especially at the cementoenamel junction (CEJ), undergo this pattern of destruction by separating the enamel rods.As teeth flex under pressure, the arrangement of teeth touching each other, known as occlusion, causes tension on one side of the tooth and compression on the other side of the tooth. This is believed to cause V-shaped depressions on the side under tension and C-shaped depressions on the side under compression. This theory does not fully satisfy many researchers because there are many teeth whose occlusion causes tension and compression on either side. Consequently, it would be expected that many more teeth would show signs of abfraction, but this is not the case. Research is ongoing to identify the role abfraction has on this pattern of tooth destruction. Read more at www.wikipedia.org/.
Amalgam
Amalgam is the traditional variety of dental filling used by the dentist to fill in the tooth area after decay was removed from the patient’s tooth. This filling is a mixture of silver with other different substances like copper and Mercury. Amalgam has been one of the oldest filling materials used. It is a fast and quick type of filling but it is not cosmetic and discolors the teeth. As a Cosmetic Dentist my goal is creating I usually have noticed cracks underneath the amalgam fillings after removing them. http://www.drsamsavar.com/html/gallery.html.
Bioesthetics
Bioesthetic is study of biology of Cosmetic Dentistry and Esthetics Dentistry. The belief that forms creates function. Bioesthetic Dentistry provides you with a beautiful natural-looking smile that is comfortable, functional and lasting. Bioesthetics is the study of the human chewing system in its natural form and function. It is based on years of scientific research and observation of healthy natural dentitions where little or no dental repair has been needed to preserve the teeth. In these chewing systems, jaw joints are stable, muscles are relaxed and teeth are practically unworn providing excellent esthetics, function, comfort and longevity. You may be surprised to know that the beauty of your smile may affect the health, function and longevity of your teeth. The natural form and function of your teeth, bite, muscles and jaw joints, collectively called the chewing system, was ingeniously designed to protect the mouth from harm. Dr. Samsavar is the first certified bioesthetic dentist in the State of Washington.

Cerec:
Cerec is a dental restoration product that allows a practitioner to produce an indirect ceramic dental restoration using a variety of computer assisted technologies including 3D photography and CAD/CAM. The restoration can be performed in a single sitting with the patient. The cavity is first photographed and stored as a three dimensional digital model and software is then used to extrapolate the approximate restoration shape. The practitioner then refines that model using 3D CAD GUI software. When the model is complete a milling machine carves the actual restoration out of a ceramic block using diamond head cutters under computer control. When complete the restoration is bonded to the tooth using a resin. Since the blocks come only in certain definite colors Cerec is not the most cosmetic dental porcelain procedure. Unlike Feldspathic porcelain used in our Bellevue cosmetic dental office Cerec is not as conservative of a procedure in terms of teeth removal as is Venetian veneer procedure. source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEREC

Compositions vary widely, with proprietary mixes of resins forming the matrix, as well as engineered filler glasses and glass-ceramics. The filler gives the composite wear resistance and translucency. A coupling agent such as silane is used to enhance the bond between these two components. An initiator package begins the polymerization reaction of the resins when external energy (light/heat etc.) is applied. A catalyst package can control its speed. source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dental_composite
