Porcelain Veneers (Laminates)

A Porcelain Veneer is a laminate or facing of tooth-colored material which is bonded over the facial or outer surface of teeth to correct dental issues.  This included chipped teeth, uneven alignment, spacing deformities, and tooth discoloration. There are different types of porcelain that veneers could be made from; There are machine-made porcelain veneers like CAD/CAM, and more opaque porcelain-like Zirconium or Emax porcelains that requires that more natural tooth structure be taken away. But there is ultra-thin shell-like Porcelain Veneers made from Feldspathic Porcelains, like Venetian Veneers®.

The Venetian Veneers procedure was created by Dr. Samsavar, and is the most conservative cosmetic dental veneers there are. Generally, 1-3 different colors are used to create laminates. Venetian Veneers are created using 15 different colors.

Porcelain Veneers create a beautiful smile; they also help protect the teeth by eliminating the need for more extensive dental work which could ultimately compromise the nerve or structural integrity of the tooth.

Dental Veneers can solve a variety of cosmetic dental issues, including:

Worn Dentition:

The protective layer of the teeth or enamel can get worn down over time, exposing the dentin or inner part of the teeth. The teeth will appear shorter, aged, and dull. Systemic problems like GERD and Acid Reflux can also contribute to wear. Additionally, drinking carbonated drinks softens the teeth and predisposes them to wear. Veneers correct smiles affected by worn enamel.

Uneven teeth:

Grinding will cause general wear and tear, and can result in chipping and uneven teeth. Veneers can restore the natural appearance of a healthy, youthful smile.

Crowded teeth:

Crowded teeth can be straightened not only by orthodontic procedures like braces and Invisalign.  Properly designed Porcelain Veneers are also able to straighten, while also chaning the shape and color of the teeth. The procedure takes only two weeks to complete.

Discoloration:

Teeth whitening may not be able to fully correct stubborn teeth discoloration. In such cases, veneers are a simple and permanent solution for creating an attractive white smile.

How long does it take?

Dental veneer procedures can often be completed in four visits over the course of two weeks. The visits are generally comprehensive, and can take a few hours of record-taking and teeth preparation. At Dr. Samsavar’s concierge dental office, we use dental Spa amenities like weighted blankets, scented towels, and audio/visual distractions like movie glasses to help you relax and stay comfortable.

During the examination, your general oral health will be evaluated, and your oral hygiene habits reviewed. We will select the best veneer color based on your skin tone, the harmony of your teeth, and the amount of tooth structure displayed while smiling. We then go over the number of appointments and their details to achieve your desired smile within two weeks.

Does much of my natural tooth get grinded away?

No. The beauty of Venetian Veneers (Dr. Samsavar’s veneers) is in how conservative they are. The Veneers are as thin as contact lens, and one of their main benefits is the amount of natural tooth structure they preserve. The natural tooth structure is kept intact most of the time.

What is the longevity of the Veneers?

Dr. Samsavar’s Venetian Veneers are rated to have about 30 years+ longevity. As long as the veneers are taken care of, with routine check-ups, cleanings, and keeping up with home care and hygiene, your smile should be with you for a long time.

Can I eat anything I want with Veneers?

Absolutely. You treat your veneers the way you treat your teeth. You can eat normally with your veneers, and similarly avoid what you shouldn’t do with your natural teeth. Biting nails, opening packages, etc. will chip your own natural teeth, and thus can damage the veneers as well.

How much do they cost?

It depends. Cosmetic dentistry involves individually designing and custom making each smile. The fee will depend on the condition of the existing teeth, including their harmony and symmetry, and the desired end-result of the makeover. A “smile-preview” will determine all the above.

Can I see what I’ll look like before the procedure is performed?

Yes. This can be done with a “smile preview” procedure. During your smile preview appointment, a bonding is used directly on your teeth.  After about 30 minutes, the process will allow you to “test drive” your future smile.
