Gum disease and birth control pills

Posted under: Gum Disease— Aalam Samsavar @ 2:26 pm

The higher level of estrogen in the older generation of the birth control pills increased the rate of periodontal disease. The newer generation have lower levels of estrogen in the hope that they would carry fewer risks.  Seattle Cosmetic Dentist Dr. Samsavar recognizes the need for a more closely monitoring of patients that are on birth control pills. The recent studies has shown that more patients with generalized aggressive periodontitis were women who were taking oral contraceptives than women not taking these agents. At our Bellevue Cosmetic Dental office Dr. Samsavar can determine the risk factor associated with periodontal or gum disease.
