At our Seattle Cosmetic Dental office you can prevent cavities before they start.
New discoveries have shown that a bacterial infection is the cause of the tooth decay and cavity development. Even if you brush, floss, and visit a dentist regularly, harmful levels of the decay-causing bacteria may still be present. A bacterial infection on your teeth, around your Veneers and Porcelain crowns and other cosmetic restotations can also be transmitted to others. If the bacterial infection remains untreated, progressive steps of decay could include: cavities, fillings, crowns, root canals and ultimately tooth loss.
Now there is a way to determine the degree to which a patient is susceptible to cavities. At our Seattle Cosmetic Dental office we are able to determine the susceptibility to cavities. Carifree screening system is a quick and easy caries screening test that determines the level of decay-causing bacteria. It takes only one minute to determine if you have a low, moderate, or high risk of developing cavities in the future. Since risk factors change over time, we recommend that you take the test once per year. The test consists of using a special swab to gather the bacteria on the surfaces of some of the teeth and after activating the swab device have the cariscreen unit determine the caries risk assessment number. Patient with diagnosis of dental caries with moderate or high risk are treated with Carifree Treatment Rinse, a potent anitimicrobial rinse, used to reduce the cariogenic bacterial infection in the oral biofilm. This therapy is followed with a daily regimen of the Carifree Maintenance Rinse for an ongoing period of time. The treatment protocol is available at our Seattle Cosmetic dentistry office to the patients that are going through Porcelain Veneer Procedures as well as the patients that come for routine dental treatments
