How is the color of a Porcelain Veneer smile makeover selected?

In our Bellevue, Seattle Cosmetic dental office we custom design the color of the porcelain veneers. That is the principle of Feldspathic and Venetian porcelain veneers of Dr. Samsavar’s Seattle cosmetic dentistry. The white color of teeth and porcelain veneers come in different varieties of white. There is shade selection guide to determine the under tone of the whiteness in the porcelain veneer. A porcelain veneer has different brightness and intensities of white as well. Hue or the color of a white porcelain veneer can have an underlying gray, blue, brown or yellow tone to it. Each category of white porcelain veneer will have its own brightness and intensity as well. We are one of the handfuls of Seattle cosmetic dental offices that have our own master porcelain veneer ceramist that designs and custom selects the color of the porcelain veneers for our clients at our Seattle cosmetic Dental office.

The shade of a smile makeover, designed at our Seattle cosmetic dental practice and the color of a smile makeover using porcelain veneers is determined by the shape and shade of the existing teeth, the underlying teeth structures to be covered by porcelain veneers at our Seattle cosmetic dental office. The other contributory factor is the patient’s skin tone, the shape of the existing teeth and the shape of the lip.

The other factor in determining the color of a porcelain veneer in our Seattle cosmetic dental office is the personality of the patient wanting a smile makeover and how much of the porcelain veneers they want to show when talking or smiling.

Certainly for a person who is in public and want to have a smile that leaves a lasting impression a whiter hue with higher value and lower Chroma would be more appropriate. Depending on the age we also want to project the color of the smile designed by the porcelain veneers at our Seattle cosmetic dental office. For someone that wants to project a younger smile we choose brighter and more intense porcelain veneer. The surface texture of the porcelain veneer and the amount of light it reflects also is custom designed at our Seattle cosmetic dentistry by Dr. Samsavar.

One of the other important aspects of designing a beautiful smile at our Bellevue, Seattle cosmetic dental office is realizing that natural teeth have different shades from the gum line to the incisal edge. Natural teeth are denser at the gum line and thin down at their cutting edge. A natural and beautiful porcelain veneer should have the same characteristic and is designed to simulate teeth in our Bellevue, Seattle Cosmetic Dental office.
